Argo Movement Swing Dance Community Guidelines & Terms
Welcome to the Westie Wednesdays & Ås Tuesday Dance Community! We aim to create a safe, respectful, and inspiring environment for all dancers. By attending classes, you agree to follow these guidelines and terms.
Community Guidelines
01 Swing dance is for everyone.
Inclusion is the standard. If someone’s actions create harm or risk, please talk to a teacher so it can be handled with care.
02 Leadership and followership are equal parts of the same partnership.
West Coast Swing is degendered: anyone can lead or follow, and anyone can dance with anyone. Roles are about communication, not power or gender.
03 Do not give advice or corrections unless you are asked.
In classes, feedback comes from the teacher unless the teacher invites peer feedback. On the social floor, no teaching — it’s for connection and enjoyment.
04 Good dancers adapt to their partner.
You are not advanced if you only enjoy dancing with advanced dancers.
05 Please come clean to dance.
Wash your hands often. Bring extra shirts, deodorant, and mints.
06 Comparison kills growth.
Different bodies, backgrounds, and experiences require different solutions.
07 Dance from the heart, not from fear.
Mistakes are a natural and necessary part of learning — enjoy them.
08 Stay curious, not judgmental.
Ask questions with respect for the teachers and the learning space. Openness helps you grow; assumptions shut learning down.
09 Everyone is responsible for the vibe.
Bring your full self — emotions included — while staying kind and aware of the shared space. Saying no to a dance is always okay and needs no explanation.
10 Be on time — that means 15 minutes early.
It helps classes start smoothly and shows respect for everyone’s time.
